Some Recent YCS Events
This year's Channukah party was a combination of education and social programing. We learnt something, ate something, and had a number of laughs! We welcomed some new faces, and got closer to some old ones!
On the 10th anniversary of the horrific day of 9/11, the Jewish Community Council of Washington Heights and Inwood decided to create an event that would remember the service of the brave men and women of NYC Police, Fire and Ambulance corps that gave their life. In doing this marked a day of community service and volunteering. YCS held two projects the first was to make and deliver craft and activity boxes for sick children, the second was a clean up of the shul, the baby's room, and the kiddush supply room. All in all we had over 30 volunteers working for three hours for the sake of our community and in memory of those that had fallen.
Yeshiva Community Shul hosted an amazing event to celebrate Tu'B'Shvat 5771 - with the shul being transformed into a truly amazing venue it was a wonderful night. Ora Sheinson, the director of Canfei Nesharim a group that focuses on environmental activism within the Jewish world came and spoke.
